General Information:

BYPOS workshop will be oriented on all fields of macromolecular chemistry. The workshop will provide the ideal possibility for young polymer scientists (Bc./MSc./PhD. students or young researchers up to 40 years) to present and discuss their results and knowledge in the field of polymer chemistry and incorporate to the group of young motivated people.

    Sections:
  1. Synthesis, modification and characterization of polymers
  2. Polymer blends and composites
  3. Smart polymers and biopolymers
  4. Polymer stability and degradation
  5. Theoretical polymer chemistry

Workshop will contain introductory lectures for each section and contributed lectures.

TRIP PROGRAM:

On the Wednesday afternoon (22nd August 20007) after lunch we will have a place for individual program or trip. We can offer you two choices for trip:
1. Trip to the Cervený Kamen Castle http://www.snm.sk/old/ck/expozicie_a.htm
Cervený Kamen Castel is originally a royal castle in the Small Carpathian Mountains; it is documented in writing as early as in the middle of the 13th century. In the 16th century its owners, the Fugger family, rebuilt the castle to a mighty fortress with a new fortification system. This fortification system belonged to the very cutting edge of military technology of that age. The exhibition contains rich collections of historical furniture and a picture gallery.
2. Trip to the Driny cave http://www.ssj.sk/jaskyne/spristupnene/driny/
Driny Cave is the only show cave in the western Slovakia. It is located in the Smolenice karst in the Small Carpathian Mountains, to the southwest of Smolenice. The mysterious hole in the earth was known for the local people already in the 19-th century, but only in 1932 they dared to enter underground. Flowstone draperies with indented facing are typical for this cave.
Transport: Transport from Smolenice Castle to Cervený Kamen Castel and to the Driny cave will be realized together.
Participants of 1st trip to the Cervený Kamen Castel will transport back to the Smolenice Castle by bus.
Participants of 2nd trip, to the Driny cave will go back by hiking during Small Carpathian Mountains.
