Announcement about the election of the external member of the Scientific Board of the Polymer Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (PI SAS)

The Management Board of the PI SAS announces the election of one external member of the Scientific Board of the PI SAS. The position of the external member became vacant prematurely based on a member’s own request as of February 1, 2024. The Board of Directors hereby invites candidates to submit their applications.

Name and the address of the organization:

Polymer Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (PI SAS), Dúbravská cesta 9, 845 41 Bratislava, Slovak Republic (hereinafter “Organization”)

Description of election:

Election of one external member of the Scientific Board of the public research institution from the registered candidates who are NOT from another public research institution and at the same time they are not employees of any university.

Rules for application and submission of documents:

All documents required for candidacy according to the list of required documents presented below must be delivered in written form to the organization’s secretariat by March 14, 2022 at 12:00 (noon) or by mail to the address Mgr. Jaroslav Mosnáček, DrSc., Polymer Institute of the SAS, Dúbravská cesta 9, 845 41 Bratislava. In the case of mailing by post, the documents must be delivered to the organization’s secretariat by the deadline given above. The application and CV must also be sent in PDF format electronically to the address of the chairman of the Management Board of the organization (jaroslav.mosnacek@savba.sk) to make them available for publication on the organization’s website.

List of required documents:

– a signed application, containing a brief concept of the candidate’s work in the organization’s Scientific Board,

– honest declaration that one is not an employee of any public research institution and at the same time they are not employees of any university

– extract from the criminal record not older than 3 months,

– structured CV, containing also information on practice in the managing directly subordinate employees

– documents on education achieved

– industrial property outputs achieved by research & development work

Minimal requirements for external member candidates:

– integrity,

– full legal capacity,

– 3-years experience with managing at least 3 directly subordinate employees either within the organizational structure of the legal entity, or within a research and development project, or a project enhancing research and development infrastructure and

– higher education of at least the second level or education obtained abroad, which is equivalent in scope and content to higher education of at least the second level within accredited study programs obtained in the Slovak Republic.

March 14, 2024 submission of candidacy and delivery of candidates’ documents,

March 15, 2024 publication of the written idea of the candidates about their work in the Scientific Board,

March 15, 2024 publication of the list of eligible voters

March 21, 2022 election by eligible voters

Elected members of the administrative board and elected members of the scientific board are elected by authorized voters, who are:

a) employees of a public research institution who

1. have at least a second-level university education or an education obtained abroad that is equivalent in scope and content to at least a second-level university education,

2. perform any of the activities in a public research institution according to § 1 par. 4 a

3. are employed with a public research institution for at least half of the established weekly working hours and

b) students of study programs of the third degree of higher education in the full-time form of study after passing the dissertation exam, who are carrying out the scientific part of the doctoral studies in the relevant public research institution on the basis of a contract according to a special regulation.

If an employee of a public research institution fulfills the conditions according to paragraph 2 at the same time in several public research institutions founded by the same founder, he can only vote in one of them, according to his choice. The employee is obliged to immediately notify the director of each of the affected public research institutions of the facts according to the first sentence.

Election procedure:

The election of an external member of the Scientific Board of the Organization will be conducted by secret ballot, with eligible voters selecting 1 member by marking at most 1 name from the list of candidates. A candidate will be elected if they receive a majority of votes from the eligible voters present. If no candidate receives a majority of votes from the eligible voters present, a second, and possibly third, round of voting will be held after a short break. If a member of the scientific board cannot be elected even after three rounds of voting, the board of directors will declare that a member of the scientific board has not been elected.

– March 21, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. in the meeting room of the PI SAS
